Canines will be king Saturday during the annual “Strutt Your Mutt” celebration in Perris.

All sorts of doggies will be on display during the festivities at Monument Ranch Park, 163 Monument Parkway, in the City’s south end.

The program runs from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and also includes a low-cost shot clinic sponsored by veterinarian Majid Ahmed.

Dachshunds and Dobermans, collies and Chihuahuas, beagles and bass hounds, Labradors and lapdogs, huskies and hounddogs, shelties and shepherds, purebreds and mutts are expected at the big show. A parade of pooches will compete for the title of best tail-wagger and most talented. There will be a doggie/owner look-a-like contest, a doggie costume contest and a “space-doggie” competition for those really free-spirited dogs.

Strutt Your Mutt promises to be a doggone good time for one and all.

City of Perris residents can purchase dog licenses.

The first 150 people will also receive a free barbecue hot dog.

The event is sponsored by the City’s Department of Community Services. All owners are asked to bring their dogs on a leash.
