Special $5 Tour de Perris Entrance Fee for Students

Calling all Perris Valley elementary, middle and high-school students: organizers of this week’s Tour de Perris bicycle rides want you!

Any students with a valid school identification, a bicycle and a helmet can take part in the 8 or 30-mile segments of Saturday’s third annual Tour de Perris for only $5.

Just be at Perris City Hall, 101 North D Street, by 7 a.m. to register and ride. Parents will have to present their own valid photo identification and sign a waiver allowing their children to participate. The invitation is opened to students in the Perris Elementary School District, the Perris Union High School District, the Val Verde Unified School District and private schools that service the Perris Valley.

Perris Mayor Pro-Tem Mark Yarbrough said the City is encouraging school children to take part in the low-cost event because it wants to promote active living.

The City recently concluded its overwhelmingly popular “Live Well Perris” health initiative, which saw thousands of residents take part in a series of events aimed at getting them off the couch and walking, cycling, hiking or taking part in aerobics classes and boot camps. The Tour de Perris features rides of 100, 62, 30 and 8-miles as well as a “Tour de  Tots” bicycle safety clinic at the City Hall Campus.

“The City of Perris is committed to encouraging a healthy lifestyle for everyone—including school children,” Yarbrough said. “What a better way to make that happen than by young people taking part in one of our signature City events?
