Enjoy the FREE Fireworks Display at Perris Auto Speedway

Perris residents are urged to take advantage of a free July 4 fireworks display at the Perris Auto Speedway rather than set off homemade fireworks, which are illegal and dangerous.

Setting off sparklers, firecrackers and other fireworks this year is particularly dangerous in light of California’s deep and persistent drought.

The State Fire Marshal’s office warns that all fireworks, including sparklers, are illegal in Riverside County because they can cause fires and injuries.

Riverside County has very diverse terrain and fireworks landing in dry vegetation can easily trigger a brush fire.

Individuals who cause fires by using illegal fireworks face fines and will be held responsible for all suppression costs. These costs can run into the millions of dollars.

The Perris Auto Speedway will conduct a fireworks show and sky concert Saturday as part of a full racing program. Gates open at 3 p.m., racing begins at 7 p.m. and the Independence Day celebration begins around 9 p.m.

The event is free for Perris residents who provide photo identification. In previous years, nearly 4,000 Perris residents have taken advantage of watching the fireworks from the speedway, located at the Lake Perris State Recreation Area, 18700 Lake Perris Drive. The annual fireworks display is part of a partnership between the City of Perris and the speedway top provide a top-notch July 4 celebration.
