More than 10 major employers will take part April 21 in a Perris job fair that includes openings for variety of employment opportunities from entry-level positions to management.
The job fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Harrison Hall at the Perris Fairgrounds, 18700 Lake Perris Drive.
Representatives of General Mills, Hanes, The Home Depot, Ross, Lowe’s, CR&R Whirlpool, Alabbasi Construction and Engineering and other employers are scheduled to take part in the upcoming job fair.
Representatives of several trade unions will be on hand to provide information about available training and apprenticeships, said Michael McDermott, Chief Operating Officer of the Community Economic Development Corporation.
City officials also anticipate job counselors experienced in resume writing and job-interviewing skills to attend.
Job openings include positions in logistics centers, construction jobs, drivers, forklift operators and managers. Many of the job openings offer fringe benefits. McDermott said the City hopes large numbers of Perris men and women take advantage of the job fair to seek employment but the event is not limited to City residents.
“It is important to help get more people gainfully employed,” McDermott said. “People need jobs, employers need to get workers to run their businesses and the City benefits from having more people employed. This job fair represents synergy between the City government, City businesses and City residents. It’s helpful to everyone.”
Perris Mayor Daryl Busch said the City is excited to sponsor the upcoming job fair. In addition to providing steady work in the City, the employers pump money into City coffers through sales tax and other revenue streams.
“A lot of these jobs can lead to long-term careers,” he said. “We are excited to be able to build the employment base in the Perris Valley.”
Busch said Perris residents can look to additional jobs in the future as more projects come on line.
“We’ve got more projects in the pipeline,” he said.
