The inaugural Perris “End of Summer Splash” was so successful last year that the City will host another celebration to welcome in autumn in September.
The second annual splash takes place Sept. 16 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Mercado Park at 10th and D streets. The fun includes a food truck festival with several different offerings, a live jazz band, a bounce house, and arts and crafts for the kids, who will also get to frolic at Mercado Park’s iconic splash pad.
The evening’s entertainment also includes a showing of the movie, “Minions.” The main characters from the movie, Minions Kevin, Bob and Stuart, also will put in an appearance.
Recreation Coordinator Rachel Pinedo said about 1,500 people turned out last year at Mercado and the City expects robust support this year.
“As summer winds down, we want to show our appreciation to all Perris residents who have supported City events throughout the year,” Pinedo said. “It’s going to be a really great time and we’re looking forward to the splash.”
Summer’s end doesn’t mean the end of fun and exciting events in Perris. After the end-of-summer celebration, the City Recreation Department will sponsor bicycle rides Oct. 15 and Nov. 19, the annual Harvest Festival on Oct. 21, the Veterans Day Parade Nov. 12, the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 2, the Christmas Parade on Dec. 10 and Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 17.
