Hundreds of Perris residents took advantage of a free cleanup day Sept. 16 to discard piles of trash, including furniture, tires, household garbage, beds, green waste, newspapers and important documents like bank statements and bills. The City of Perris partnered with waste hauler CR&R for the annual cleanup. Vehicles began lining up at 7 a.m. the Orange Empire Railway Museum, site of this year’s trash disposal, and continued in a steady stream throughout the day. At Perris City Hall, a commercial document shredder disposed of personal paper documents. By day’s end, more than 131 tons of refuse had been collected. Documents shredded will be recycled for other purposes.
The City of Perris holds two or three community cleanups every year. To learn more about upcoming disposal days or to report a code enforcement violation, please call the Code Enforcement Division at 951-385-4131.
