On Sat., Nov. 4, the new Metrolink Tier 4 locomotive will make a special stop at the Downtown Perris Veteran’s Day Parade, a family-friendly parade honoring United States Veterans, hosted by the City of Perris. The new locomotive will be on display from 9 a.m. to noon at the Downtown Perris Metrolink station, located at 121 South C St., Perris.
The Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) and Metrolink will have a booth at the station promoting Metrolink train service and destinations. Attendees also have an opportunity to win Metrolink tickets, take a picture in front of the locomotive and receive promotional materials including paper trains and conductor’s hats for children.
The Clean Power Tour of the new Tier 4 locomotive is an opportunity for communities throughout the Metrolink service region to view the new Tier 4 locomotives up close as they are phased into revenue service. The Tier 4 locomotive is the cleanest diesel locomotive, reducing emissions and moving people quickly and more reliably with 64% more horsepower. These locomotives also have the highest safety standards as they are equipped with the newest rail safety technology, including Positive Train Control (PTC) and crash energy management technology. Metrolink is the first passenger rail service in the country to use Tier 4 locomotives.
