The Perris City Council recently issued a Proclamation in support of Lupus Awareness Month and presented it to a victim of the disease who advocates on behalf of those afflicted with it. Lupus is an autoimmune disease which can affect any part of the body and affects 1.5 million Americans, 90 percent of whom are women.

It affects disproportionate numbers of African-Americans, Hispanics, Asians, and Native-Americans.
