Perris Working Scholars Check Presented During Council Meeting

A symbolic check passing took place during the Sept. 25 City Council meeting, Perris City Councilman David Starr Rabb, City Councilwoman Rita Rogers, Bob Close, Pre-Construction Director with Duke Realty, Chris Burns, Senior Vice President of Duke Realty, City Councilwoman Tonya Burke, Bo Cheli, Program Director for Working Scholars with and Perris Mayor Pro-Tem Malcolm Corona.

The City of Perris is partnering with, Thomas Edison State University and Duke Reality to create the “Perris Working Scholars Program,” which will enable 125 Perris residents the chance to earn a free Bachelor’s Degree.

The City is hosting a seminar Sept. 27 inside the Perris City Council Chambers, 101 North D Street, to kick off the higher-education initiative and gauge public sentiments. Duke Realty donated $1 million to the City to sponsor the Working Scholars program, which the City is using to fund the education program.
