Perris Launches ‘Movies in the Park,’ Seeks Input for Copper Creek

PERRIS, Calif. (July 15, 2019) –– The City of Perris hosted a community outreach event to gather input on improvements and amenity upgrades at Copper Creek Park on July 12, 2019.

Perris officials are looking for input on how to make the park a more family friendly environment after an uptick of security and safety concerns. Initial suggestions include additional lighting, redesign of park facilities, improved amenities and additional public safety presence.

The local community gathered to show their support for the event and offered suggestions on amenity upgrades. Guests were then invited to stay for the kickoff of the summer program “Movies in the Park” with the first feature, “Spiderman, Into the Spiderverse.”

“This is an excellent turn out from the community and it is clear they are passionate about this park,” said Perris City Manager Richard Belmudez. “Now that we have received input on these improvements, we can all sit back and enjoy a movie in this beautiful park on warm southern California night.”

Participants for the event were invited to take a survey and talk with staff as well as public safety representatives from the Perris Chapter of the Riverside Sheriff’s Department. Popcorn, shaved ice, games, face painting and raffles were offered to invite residents to Copper Creek Park to participate.

“We wanted to hear input from the residents on some future upgrades to this park and today’s attendance was a good sign that people want to take initiative in their community,” said Community Services Director Sabrina Chavez. “We received good information and look forward to new design concepts for Copper Creek Park.”

For those who might have missed the event, there is no need to worry. Residents will have another opportunity to provide feedback at another event on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at Copper Creek Park. Staff will offer free food for the first 150 participants, as well as raffles and prices, kid’s activities and more!

The next “Movies at the Park” event will be held on July 26 at the Frank Eaton Memorial Park and will feature the movie, “Enchanted.” So, bring a blanket, pack up the kids and watch a family-friendly movie out under the stars. All movies begin at dusk.

The remaining summer lineup is as follows:
- Friday, August 9, 2019, Monument Ranch Park: Aquaman
- Friday August 23, 2019, May Ranch Park: Space Jam
- Friday September 13, 2019, Mercado Park: Jumanji
