PERRIS, Calif. (October 9, 2019) –– The City of Perris was proud to recognize the October 2019 Students of the Month at the XOLA Hotel in Moreno Valley, California on October 9, 2019.
Students from the Moreno Valley and Val Verde Unified School Districts were honored in front of dignitaries from Moreno Valley, Perris, the office of Congressman Mark Takano, Office of Senator Richard Roth, Office of Assemblyman Jose Medina, Office of County Supervisor Jeff Hewitt, the Riverside County Office of Education, Moreno Valley College, and the Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce, who hosted the event.
All Students of the Month will be invited to complete a scholarship application in the spring. A panel of sponsors and community leaders will judge the applications and select the Student of the Year.
The application will request grades, school activities, community service and short essays about how the student has made a difference, and how the scholarship will benefit the student, as well as two letters of recommendation. All Students of the Month will be invited to attend the Student of the Year Dinner, where scholarship winners will be announced.
