The City of Perris has undergone a comprehensive review of the City’s finances and an evaluation of the City’s current rate design. Recommendations resulting from this study will be presented to the City of Perris’ City Council on May 9, 2023. At that time, the Council may authorize the preparation of a notice for a Proposition 218 Hearing regarding the need to raise water rates in order to continue the safe and reliable delivery of water to the downtown and north Perris areas. The City has gone over ten years without a water increase and the proposed rate changes identified in the Proposition 218 Notice will ensure that rates adequately cover the cost of providing the service over a five year period. The Proposition 218 Notice will be mailed out to all affected property owners and utility account holders beginning May 10, 2023, and if approved by City Council, the public hearing will be scheduled for July 25, 2023, as outlined in the Notice. Proposed Water Rate Schedule – The table below provides a summary of the proposed increases over the five-year period and a comparison to neighboring water districts, which will be considered by the City Council at a public hearing scheduled for July 25, 2023, at 6:30 PM in the Council Chambers located at 101 N. D Street, Perris, CA 92570.
