400 S. D St., Perris

Welcome to the Bank of Perris!

History:

Built in 1918 by Wilbert W. Stewart and operated by the Stewart family until 1947, when it was sold to Citizen's National Bank.

Prior to the bank's construction, Smith and Son General Store was moved south one lot to make room for the bank. The bend in 4th St. was engineered to avoid the bank when Highway 74 was widened.

Wilbert was a well-respected and honorable gentleman who helped his community in both the good times and the bad times. He later became the bank president, Perris' first treasurer in 1911, and a major land investor.

With farming being the largest industry in the Perris Valley, they depended on Wilbert to get them through the year.

It has been restored by the City of Perris and is now the Perris Valley Museum Historical archives.
