The Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports are an annual snapshot of the City's finances. The reports are reviewed by an outside accounting firm before being accepted by the City Council and published.

To provide a reasonable basis for making these representations, the City's finance department uses a comprehensive internal control framework to both to create the reports and to protect the City’s assets from loss, theft, or misuse. Because the cost of internal controls should not outweigh their benefits, the internal controls provide reasonable assurance that the financial statements are accurate.

From 2005 - 2020, the Finance Department has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.
